MOVEMENT AGAINST DAPO ABIODUN FOR SENATE (MADAS)- WHY THIS MOVE ?

We are a movement that believes that people who want to progress in politics, especially someone asking for another term or moving into another electable office must be someone who has performed in his former office. We strongly believe without equivocation that a non performer or rather a lowly performer must not be made to further personal ambition at the detriment of the people. Such is our belief that we have by this strongly formed a movement that permeates the three Senatorial Districts of Ogun State in other to enlighten the good people of Ogun East Senatorial District that Governor Dapo Abiodun should not be voted for in the next Senatorial election in 2027 as a Senator representing Ogun East. His present performance as Governor in Ogun State is viewed by a huge part of the people of Ogun State as far closer to a disaster than a success.
WHY IT CAN'T BE GOV DAPO ABIODUN FOR SENATE IN OGUN EAST IN 2027.

There are a litany of reasons why it can't be Gov Dapo Abiodun that should represent Ogun East in the next Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

LOWLY PERFORMANCE AS GOVERNOR:*l

Dapo Abiodun has performed below any of the Governors that has governed Ogun State since the advent of the present Republic in 1999.

Road infrastructure in Ogun State under his watch is mostly haphazardly done. Unlike the road infrastructure of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, which was solid and more purposeful, that of Abiodun are road infrastructures that hardly lead to nowhere which are said not be up to standard.

For example the Ogun State Government has been on the Sango-Ota Expressway for ages and if anyone should take a look at what's presently being done, one will feel sorry for the standard of work going on. The Sango end is still a nightmare and some other portions.
Likewise in the Ogun East axis except for some few roads that one can count on the fingers, the network of state roads are nothing to really be cheerful about.

The biggest infrastructure signature of the Dapo Abiodun legacy will be the Gateway International Airport at Iperu and yet the cost of that project, which idea was that of the Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) administration, still remains a mystery. In fact we are yet to come into contact with any project of the Abiodun administration where the cost of project has been made public. We may be wrong about this assertion but we plead that if such exists, people should help in making such public. We will even plead that the government of Governor Dapo Abiodun should help release the cost of all its projects from 2019 till date for public scrutiny.

THE OGUN STATE LOSS OF THE DANGOTE REFINERY:

There are insinuations out there that Dapo Abiodun headed a committee that made Ogun State to lose out in the siting of the refinery in Ogun East Senatorial District. Although this is at the realm of mere accusations to which the Governor has denied, yet he has not found it worthy to exactly state what really went wrong. Therefore as a person aspiring to represent Ogun East Senatorial District in the next Senate, we hereby demand that he makes full disclosure of what transpired on the Dangote Refinery project under Amosun 's administration of which he is said to be privy to. Why exactly was the refinery moved from Ogun State to Lagos State ? The people of Ogun State, more particularly people of Ogun East Senatorial District needs explicit explanations.
Though we know that Dangote is now talking of a Deep Sea Port at Ijebu Waterside but the issue is that this would have been an additional to the Refinery instead of just being at the talking stage of which it is today.

We can vividly recollect that the administration of Gov Abiodun spoke of and promised a refinery at Ipokia during the campaign for his second term but three years plus down the line, there's no mention whatsoever again about the said refinery. It all seems as nothing but a talking point for election.

MINERAL RESOURCES:

More importantly is noted that Ogun State is so blessed with natural resources just like other states in Nigeria yet we are hearing nothing about its utilisation for the betterment of the life of the people of Ogun State. We believe that the government of Ogun State under Gov Dapo Abiodun should in the light of the ongoing insecurity, which seems to have as it's handmaiden the illegal explosion of mineral resources, highlight and make out a well researched development agenda of the states mineral resources less the tsunami of bandits enter into .

We want to also ask for the drones that Gov Abiodun said were to be deployed along the same expressway to curb insecurity. We are aware of the episode of kidnappers attacking commuters about a week ago along the Benin Sagamu expressway that links the Lagos Ibadan Expressway. We are really happy and give kudos to the Nigeria Police Force, its officers and the Inspector General of Police for their swift interference in freeing the victims and arresting the miscreants but the big question is where are the security drones of the government of Ogun State ? Were this drones also mere talking points ?
CREATION OF IJEBU-REMO STATE:

The above is mainly the largest pie in the plate of the people of Ogun East Senatorial District. They want the creation of an Ijebu -Remo State out of the present Ogun State for it is said to be the only province created by the colonial masters that has not yet metamorphosed into a full fledged State in Nigeria.

The creation of this State was in the heart of the Late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona the Awujale of Ijebu land. In fact all relevant documents and processes are said to have been submitted to the National Assembly.
The process for the creation of Ijebu -Remo State is said to be spearheaded by OGD but the fact out there is that Gov Dapo Abiodun does in no way support the creation of the new State. He was said to have told the late Awujale that he cannot be the Governor of Ogun State and yet support the creation of an Ijebu -Remo State ! What a terribly myopic reasoning one would say ?

History shows that Late former Governor Olabisi Onabanjo supported the new State creation when he was Governor of the State, likewise OGD did same when he was Governor. In Oyo State, Gov Seyi Makinde is said to be in full fledged support of the creation of Ibadan State from the present Oyo State.

We then ask what law really prevents Governor Dapo Abiodun from supporting the creation of Ijebu- Remo State when he is even the highest government official from the Senatorial District ? How can't he see the humongous benefits therein in the creation of a new State out of the Senatorial District ?

Will it not therefore be a terribly wrong move against the people of Ogun East Senatorial District to vote such a person as Dapo Abiodun as the next Senator representing Ogun East in the next Senate during which term it is very likely that new States will be created in the Federation ?

INABILITY TO FINALISE THE PROCESS OF INSTALLING OBAS FOR IJEBU-ODE & IPERU:

The Obaship tussle for this two traditionally important towns in Ogun State has been lingering. Our Executive Governor Dapo Abiodun has been unable to sieve through the web of traditional intrigues as an executive yet he wants to become the highest official from the Senatorial District for another four years ! Like the parlance that people say jokingly: "No be juju be that ?"

A Governor unable to unstring Obaship tussles wants to represent Ogun East Senatorial District at the Senate in which most largesse for Senatorial Districts are gotten through gruelling diplomacy and debate. Is the result of what such a person will be at the Senate not visible for all to see ?
Therefore, this movement has taken it upon itself to campaign throughout the nooks and crannies of Ogun East Senatorial District that Governor Dapo Abiodun shall not under any circumstances win the Senate seat of Ogun East Senatorial District in the upcoming election of 2027. We are determined and up to the task !
