Nigeria has been a global cynosure since eternity and the reasons are not far-fetched...
1) Our population is for global advantage with regards to global market for any investment window
2) EVERY mineral needed in the world is domiciled in this country
So world powers would do everything to romance our domain so they can take advantage of our untapped resources due to LEADERSHIP greed....
Pa Awolowo (God bless his soul) was able to harness the power of barter to explore and exploit cocoa for the massive development of the western region....
Did he make profit too? Yes.... Was he greedy about it? No
How did I know?
Pa Awolowo (God bless his soul) ensured that cocoa farmers were well catered for... Fertilizer, good payment for the cocoa they sold to government... Standard cocoa yield to Switzerland (in particular) in exchange for major infrastructural development witnessed during his tenure....
Did he do well? Yes.... Based on the information he had at his disposal...
What should subsequent leaders have worked upon after Awolowo?
Use our mineral resources as a major bargaining chip with other nations of the world, for the benefit of ALL Nigerians....
How?
Bitumen, blue diamond, felspar, gold, cocoa, yam, cassava, groundnuts, palm oil etc are major bargaining chips asides crude oil
I am sure a lot of Nigerians do not know that crude oil is about 60 dollars per barrel while palm oil is about 150 dollars per barrel....
A wise thinking leader would see our arable land and agricultural wealth as a major bargaining chip, deploy it to good use, incentivize agricultural education and create massive employment in that field...
Oftentimes, our leaders are myopic because it is what they can loot that dominates their minds rather that what they can do to improve the lives of Nigerians....
Politicians want more hungry people so that they can give them peanuts during election campaigns....
All the "everyone just buckle up" mantra while those in government keep living larger than life is PURE WICKEDNESS and senseless attitude....
When the people are angry and hungry, their sense of judgement will accept any offer that appears to quench their appetite....
I have stressed it for the umpteenth time that if the current political setting doesn't make life good for Nigerians, don't be surprised when the next generation DESIRE a military regime without adminstrative looting bottlenecks...
The NASS hastens to pass bills that favour their looting spree and personal welfare at the expense of those who voted them into power....
The judiciary uses hasty discretion to send a defenseless Nigerian to jail while the looters get endless adjournments
The executive manipulates these other 2 arms and pockets the security architecture for personal interest....
We are all not fools and the world is watching....
China and Russia may soon whip up sentiments that favour the masses, install a junta that will permit easy access to our minerals and protect the junta....
That is what is playing out in Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso....
It may well play out in Nigeria and America is guarding jealously against such...
So those who are blindly clapping for AMERICA don't understand the smokescreen of the hypocrite...
