Arise Foundation: Leaving Positive Imprints in Nigeria - By OLUCHI UGBOAJA

In order to accelerate the actualization of the 2030 United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), Arise Foundation, a non-governmental Organization  through its activities, is propelling women to economic growth and power.

To kick off its Arise Women Conference 2022, Pastor (Dr) Siju Iluyomade, the Founder and Convener of the NGO, addressed the press to intimate them about the activities of the programme  tagged ‘By Appointment’ (#appointedtolive).

According to her the topic was chosen deliberately because “Arise is a transformational agenda, an ideology of passing on from one generation to another most particularly in our country Nigeria”.

She revealed that Nigeria has so many gifting, talents and others that we are not utilizing including the UN SDGs. “Women are not utilized enough, as they are major economic force and power in Nigeria.  Arise focuses on wealth creation, preventive healthcare, skills acquisition, through which women are trained, learn how to make money, be economically viable and take care of themselves, sustain their families, collaborate with their spouses and ensure they get good life”.

To Pastor (Dr) Iluyomade, the future belongs to only those who believe in the beauty of their dreams and “it’s time to dream, time for Nigerians to come out of lethargy which has kept us for centuries. It is time for consistency, for  us to explode and expand our vision and keep pushing it. There are a lot of things women can do and they do a lot better if given a chance”.

Arise is very keen on the SDGs. “These goals are very necessary and were developed by the UN to make sure we have a good sustainable society.  Sustainability is continued progress for every sphere. Good health and wellbeing are paramount as this lead to long life, better time to enjoy your wealth. It is important that everyone keys into preventive healthcare. Arise Foundation was the first and only organization/individual, outside government given the right to administer COVID-19 vaccinations on people. The Foundation worked tirelessly with isolation centres to reduce mortality rate during the pandemic period, and as the vaccine came out they took it to market places sensitizing people on why they should take the vaccine.

She stated that main part of the activities of Arise Women Conference 22 is Preventive Healthcare. “The essence of life is good living, we are particular about everyone regardless of their colour, tribe, religion, being able to feed, and cloth, earn money, live fruitful life, therefore one of the great efforts of the Arise Foundation, is about preventive healthcare”.

“It is time for us as a nation, to quit talking and begin to do. Why are we interested in preventive healthcare? It is easier for us to major on preventive healthcare than curative healthcare; people prefer to act reactively than act pro-actively”.

If you act pro-actively you will ensure that you don’t get sick, prevent yourself from falling ill and spend less money on healthcare, as a nation we’ll spend far less money if people will be able to prevent diseases by doing simple exercises like walking, which has so many benefits like improve heart, reduce stress and anxiety, strengthen muscles and bones, improves the mood among others killer diseases and give them richer and better life. This is why Arise is putting walking into the lifestyle of Nigerians to increase their life expectancy”.
