Uniting Yorubas worldwide International Colloquium: The day after

The president of Yoruba Ko'Ya Leadership and Training Foundation, Otunba Deji Osibogun, after pondering on the global success of the International colloquium held on the Saturday, the 23rd October, 2021 organized in collaboration with Garvey Institute For Human Development, penned his heartfelt thoughts with gratitude.

 **THE DAY AFTER*

The organisers of the event wish to thank all Yoruba organisations  for the kind  support and attendance of its members at the Colloquium, it certainly contributed to the success of the event and showed how "serious" the organisers are about a Yoruba nation of our dreams.

Yesterday was a new day in collaborative efforts  by Yoruba organisations to show support for each other at such events, various Yoruba groups like VOR, Afenifere, Majeobaje, Afenifere Renewal Group, Atayeshe and others were all ably represented.

*Yorubas must first provide a unified front before we can remove the speck in our eyes and the thorn in our foot, how can you free yourselves without the youths ? How can hungry and angry youths follow us if we have not provided them comfort or a solution to their problems , we ignore this fact and continue to pontificate on a war we are not prepared for while our enemies are daily making incursions into our land without resistance, we must begin to groom our youths and take back our land as the first line of resistance, unless we can achieve this all our expectations will always end up as a talk show as you have opined .I think Papa Adebanjo stressed this at the Colloquim.

Finding the right formulae of unity ,can only be easy if we break all walls of envy ,rivalry, abuse, neglect  backstabbing ,petty discourse and all acts and behavioural pattern that widens the gap of Unity that are often self promoted by individuals seeking relevance all the time.

Yorubas are a big tribe world wide, the largest ethnic tribe in Africa, the richest, the most successful, and we are being persecuted worldwide in Nigeria Brazil, Jamaica, Haiti  and the organisers of the event have realised this and have decided to first have a unifying focus with our brothers and Sisters in the areas of our Religion ,Culture and Tradition which was the unifying theme of the 1st in the series of "Talk Shows" to be organised .

Yesterday the doors of opportunity for cultural ties, trade relations ,youth and developmental projects were opened as the first platform of empowering our youths and utilising our abandoned land space for Agriculture and manpower development and we are ready to explore it along with other groups interested.

I can assure you that, YKLTF has a blue print to be used to navigate the stormy waters of Yoruba politics and survive the oppressive and violent acts of the Government in power.

If you want to take a prized meat from a lion, you need all the skills, strength, courage, tact and wisdom that God has given you to accomplish your objective.

But for now "gbogbo Asho ko la nsa lorun"

A new journey has started,  we have willing partners out there who have our interest and survival at heart and we are ready to cooperate with them to achieve our goals.

On a serious note I was expecting that after attending such a successful Colloquim and being  a staunch member of any Yoruba group you would come up with a strategy of actualising most of the solutions provided at the Colloquim, especially in harnessing our economic strength to get our political freedom as variously expressed.

Let us learn to accommodate each others failings ,work together to provide solutions and execute them successfully .

Criticism and condemnation of the tiny steps of a toddler will not stop it from walking or running with grace

 .

Good morning and thank you all.

OTUNBA DEJI OSIBOGUN

President, YKLTF
