Yoruba Decides: Poll favours self-determination

Over 80 percent of Yoruba indigenes have opted to leave Nigeria and establish Yoruba nation.  This information was made public according to the poll conducted by 'YORUBA DECIDES'

The Yoruba decide online platform activated a voting exercise on May 12, 2021 to feel the pulse of the yorùbá people as it concerns self determination and restructuring

The Yoruba Self Determination Poll that was conducted  on yorubadecides.com, which commenced by 2 PM on May 12, 2021, has ended by 2 PM, June 12, 2021


The Poll result, as published on yorubadecides.com,  is as stated below:


1. Restructuring of Nigeria: Devolving political power to the regions in Nigeria, in which Yorubaland would constitute a region,

 2,271 VOTES (12.94%)


2.Yoruba nation: Yorubaland standing as an independent country.  

14,762 VOTES (84.09%)


3. Status quo: Retaining the existing political structure and the current constitution of Nigeria. 83 VOTES (0.47%)


STATISTICS 

1. Number of Registered voters: 22,124

2. Number of valid votes: 17,116

3. Number of disqualified voters: 4,568 

4. Number of messages received: 16,858


POLL LOG

Yesterday, June 12, the country marked its democracy day and protest erupted in some state capitals.

There were incidences of arrests, harassment and tear gas usage in Lagos, nation’s capital, Abuja, Osogbo, Port Harcourt, etc.
